Draft — not legally reviewed. This describes Vibond’s intended practices accurately, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not a binding policy. Vibond is not yet available.
Privacy
Vibond exists so you can talk to someone without handing over your phone number, your email, or your social accounts. This page describes what that means in practice.
Only you can see your email, date of birth, connection list, and who you have blocked.
What Vibond collects
- An email address or Apple ID, used to sign you in. Never shown to another user.
- If you sign in with email, a password. It is held by our sign-in provider only as a one-way hash, so nobody, including Vibond, can read it.
- A display name and a photo, which you choose.
- Optional details: age, a short bio, a job title, interests, and a general area.
- Your date of birth, used only to check you are 18 or over. It is never shown to anyone.
- Messages you send to people you have connected with.
What Vibond deliberately does not collect
- Your phone number.
- Your surname.
- Your precise location. Vibond does not ask for location permission at all.
- Your employer, or where you work.
- Your contacts or address book.
- Any cross-app or cross-site tracking. There is no advertising SDK.
Location data attached to photos is removed when you upload them.
Who can see what
- Anyone with your code link: your display name.
- Someone who scans your code: your photo, and whichever optional details you chose to share.
- People you connect with: the above, plus your job title if you added one.
- Only you: your email, your date of birth, your connection list, and who you have blocked.
Messages
Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest, and only you and the person you are talking to can read them in the app. Vibond is not end-to-end encrypted. That means Vibond staff could technically access message content. Access is restricted and logged, message content is never used for analytics or advertising, and it is never written to logs. This is stated plainly rather than implied otherwise.
Blocking
When you block someone, they cannot see your profile, scan your code, message you, or send you a request — and they are not told that you blocked them. Blocking survives you resetting your code.
Blocking cannot stop someone creating an entirely new account. If someone does that to reach you, report them.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app, under Settings. Your profile, photos, code, notification settings and sign-in are removed, and your code stops working immediately. A few things are kept. People you talked with keep their own copy of your conversation, with your name replaced by “Deleted account”. Blocks against you and abuse reports that involve you are kept too, because deleting an account must not destroy the evidence in someone else’s harassment report. Those records are tied to a scrambled key, not to your name or your email address.
